While reading chapter 3 in disciplinary literacy, emphasizing in writing within ELA I was able to learn about the way that students conduct their writing in their class. Students are disciplined into thinking that their writing isn’t emphasized on problem solving and inquiry the engagement of students in their writing projects. Some main ideas to point out are that writing prepares students for their state testing. They are able to get writing opportunities to create formulaic approaches hat counter produce the learning through different types of writing (73). It is important to note that writing in all content areas prepares students to write well and focus on their content, purpose and audience. This allows students to engage with the workshop areas and process of writing instruction to enhance new writing skills. It is important to encourage students to write in a positive, targeted, and timely manner to receive feedback that focuses on generating ideas and organizing thoughts with clarity (76). Moreover, when writing a journal entry students are required to adapt to the strategy so you can utilize it and adapt to it. Being able to approach new creative strategies help students understand the content and apply it in different ways. This is best seen when writing blogs, students are expected to create a full detailed writing that has supporting details on the concept, provides examples, and uses one’s own words (98). Together, providing students with the opportunity to interact in a collaborative nature encourages motivation.
