Direct instruction is the most efficient and clear way to teach new academic vocabulary standards, it is also very similar to the Frayer Model. Direct Instruction Vocabulary Routine also helps people better understand reading comprehension, and it breaks words down in a way that is easier to understand. Direct instruction helps students learn difficult words, such as words that represent complex concepts that are not part of the students' everyday experiences. Direct instruction of vocabulary relevant to a given text leads to better reading comprehension.
