Learning Log 8

Recently, I just did a presentation on what concept vocabulary is and how to use it with the Frayer Model. Concept vocabulary and academic vocabulary share a lot of similarities, they are more abstract (usually) and hard to understand just through a dictionary definition. The Frayer Model for academic and concept vocabulary words can be implemented across any discipline when needing to introduce a new word or topic. One similarity that I have found between the research I did on the Frayer Model and in the class text, This is Disciplinary Literacy, is that when teaching vocabulary, it is in best practice to always keep the content as relevant as possible. I.e.; making connections to prominent movies (age appropriate), play a song, activate prior knowledge, etc.
