Israel Mendez: Introduction

Updated: Feb 7

Hi everyone, hope you all had a great Christmas break. My name is Israel Mendez and I am from the Tri City campus. I was born and raised in Sunnyside, Washington and recently moved to Benton City, Washington to be closer to my son who is my everything. I am able to be with him everyday now so I chose to go back to school to become a full time teacher instead of working 2-3 jobs at a time. This will free up my time more to spend with him. I work 2 jobs right now not including assisting manage and maintaining my family's business of renting apartments. I chose to become a teacher because I love helping people and I think the best way I can do that is to teach the youth in my community. I have been a substitute teacher for the past 9 years and have done long term positions that range from elementary to high school. During this time I gained the experience to realize that teaching is my calling. I have enjoyed being a sub this whole time and the long term positions I have enjoyed even more. I look forward to finishing my schooling and having a class of my own. Thank you for your time. See you all in class.
